The purpose of steam drawing is to process a small amount of fiber (continuous PAN polyacrylonitrile) in a steam environment of up to 2,5 barg at a saturated steam temperature ranging from 130°C to 160°C.
This is possible by operating the boiler at higher pressures, up to 6,5 barg. The steam drawing unit supplied by MAE
will include the steam chamber with clamshell lid, inlet and outlet seals, steam delivery piping, condensate collection
system, and instrumentation/controls for operating the steam drawing unit.
The tensioner drives, upstream and downstream of the Steam Stretch Unit, are available upon specific request.
